Flake Bake’s multi-generational journey begins with Trevor Miller, the grand uncle of the family. Trevor was a trailblazer in the 1990s when he owned the first West Indian bakery to supply major retailers such as Sainsbury’s and Tesco. The story continues with Paul, the second generation in this family saga. Originally from Jamaica, Paul worked as a baker alongside his uncle Trevor. After the bakery closed its doors, an opportunity emerged when the original retail outlet became available for lease. Paul decided to take up the mantle and run the establishment himself.

The third generation, represented by Mike, is a continuation of the family’s entrepreneurial spirit. Mike was deeply involved in his father Paul’s various business ventures from a young age. His dedication extended to weekends and weekdays, even as he pursued his education after college. With a growing passion for business, Mike pursued higher education, earning a BA Honours degree in Economics and politics from the University of Sussex and an MSc in Management for Business Excellence at the University of Warwick. With this valuable experience and education, he achieved a remarkable transformation and successfully turned Flake Bake into South London’s largest supplier of delectable Jamaican patties.

The family’s journey reflects a profound commitment to entrepreneurship. This tradition lives on through their dedication, innovation, and astute business acumen, ensuring a legacy of success and resilience.
